A crazy rumor going around has caused a jump in the sale of unlocked cell phones, mobile handsets that allow users to easily jump from carrier to carrier without having to go purchase new ones. Most cellular phones on the market today are bought through service contracts offered by service providers and are rendered inoperable over another network when the customer leaves. But by getting a phone that’s unlocked to begin with, not tied down or locked to a specific carrier, people can continue to enjoy the phone they’ve grown so used to!
